the pain of change pt. 2
Seasons change.
They slip through our fingertips like sand.
We learn how to build then must renovate all over again.
Lay down our preferences and put new stakes in the ground
We widen
Deepen
Our capacity expands
You open our hearts to be more dependent on you over and over again
With you, there is no end
Just beginning after beginning, peeling away my selfishness and widening the lengths
The lengths of my life, the widths of your love, the heights I’m going too are lengthening
Deepening my understanding
Letting hope rise within
Selflessness, the seasoning
Salt and light, I am
Seasons change
Oh, how they shift
As swift as sand through my finger tips
Sharpen my senses
Rise my character to the stakes
May I know I’m not the result of my pain
I’m more than what I gain, who I am is what I give looking for nothing in exchange except for the joy of pouring all of myself so others may experience the joy, peace, and hope of true life change within
The pain of change
Just like coins in my wallet, changing requires an increase in value
I go from 1 cent to 2 to 5 cents to 10
Upwards, I go, expecting nothing more than valuable, healthy growth
Healthy, healthy, you call me to grow
To expand, to be different
To give it my all even if I blow it
I’m here to show others he who is greater who is living inside of me
He’s given me peace that won’t be complete unless you take some of it too
Don’t let the pain of change take it out of you
You aren’t losing anything, you’re gaining something.
The parts of your life that are rough, they’re creating you to be tender and tough
Able to withstand the elements and soft enough to maintain your innocence (Matthew 10:16)
Malleable
Moldable
We’re meant to adapt to change as surely as the palms do when it rains
They bend and they fold, still standing strong with the weathers ever-changing ways
So it is with you - meant to maintain
Meant to change
God will teach you too evolve.
God will teach you the way.
He’ll teach you too obey
His word is what we walk on, stronger than the wind and the waves
Forever stands and never changes.
Jesus, you’re the one I cling too when the pain of change seems to get its way
You’re the one I cling too as my life shakes
In the wake of the inevitable, you’re the light of all my days
The pain of change is difficult
But let it make me different - by the power of your Word, steady and firm.
Never bending or breaking by the unsteadiness of this earth
The pain of change will not be for my detriment but will actually be for a great destiny to be birthed
Like Pennies falling into the sink, I’ll fall into your arms all over again and watch as you take the old me and mold my life into a new one - not marked by the pain of change but by hopeful expectations of new beginnings
Another chance to build. Watch miracles unfold.
To live a life of purpose, on fire for the Gospel and living from the greatest story ever told
