the pain of change pt. 1

as you go up in value, you change. you transform.

these pennies fallin' down the sink

from my wallet into the brink

all the clanking

water dripping

faucet turning

down the drain goes this coin that i once held in my fingertips

value swirling down a river of filth

isn't that how it can feel?

when we're in the middle of the change

in the middle of the unknown

where we thought we knew somethin'

and now we recognize how we know nothin’

the pain of change is real

but if we never changed then how could the real us be revealed?

if you never grew you would never be able to see all that I put in you

You would never see that the pain was meant to change you into more than a mere penny

The price of you is way too high

That's why I came, so we could abide

Hand in hand, an eye for an eye

My hands nailed for your hands to touch mine

For your eyes to meet mine

All the way from across the room, the cross establishing somethin' new

A change took place back then and the worlds been changin' ever since
