how could the fullness of God be contained in a man?

how could the fullness of God be contained in a man?

how could the image of God be fulfilled in His son?

how could he be pleased when the one he loves was given on behalf of us?

how could he create everything and come with nothing as a baby born in the muck?

the muck and the mess, a nation in great distress waited

a man who would extend his baby legs and cry out with a wail among farm animals in a shed

the Heavens stretched

to make a way for Him to exist

oh, the extent, the lengths He’d go

to show us how great he is, even with less

because what we deem best is nothing without God’s great holiness

holy and held, Mary’s son in her arms

would one day be the one who’d hold her very heart

held together by holy love

how could the fullness of God be contained in a man?

how could a love so rich dwell with sin?

how could he come just to save me?

how could he live to save me from my sins?

how could he be pleased when he knew I’d turn away from him?

how could my heart contain this love that lives within?

love came

dawn shined on a dark day

came to be the light that's never taken away

a never-ending lamp for dawn to break through and light up our world to the end of the age

Jesus lived. but he also came to die

He died in darkness but awakened with a great light, shining again

that Christmas tree may be lit for a season

but the stump will be cut down and the lights will be taken off

and the light of the world still remains

he will never be taken down

no, the cross stands, as a blazing reminder of a light that will never go out

this flame won’t slip

no, it won’t go away

this love I have in my heart will surely stay lit forever and ever

this light I have won’t go away

no, it lives in my heart forever

this hope I have is here to stay

how could the fullness of God be contained?

well, the good news came…

and it is this…. that it couldn’t

this Gospel flame set the whole world ablaze

faith and love sprung from the one who was hung

despair froze and hope rose

because of God’s great love

fruit is everywhere from the Gospel message being made clear (Colossians 1:6)

life is full of who Jesus is because this

love couldn’t be contained

it was birthed the day the one who was once a baby sprawled his body on the cross

to save the lost

and then rose again

bringing peace through his blood

making us whole in his love

his love still lives on to this day

maintained by those who’d put their faith in his life - his teachings on earth - the works he freely did - the love he gave

a narrow path paved

for our feet to step on

run our race

his love, maintained

cultivated in the hearts of those who would believe

in the sacred gift of this little babe - our Jesus, our Lord, and Savior.

our faithful Father, the fullness of love, dwelling in His image

I thank God for sending Jesus, the fulfillment of over 300 prophecies,

a mathematical impossibility

gave me opportunity

to be full of this love

that will never be contained

but only thought of more and more

so I put down my pen

knowing I’m living in fullness — fully loved & in love with one I adore

“For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him.” Colossians 1:19

We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all God’s people— the faith and love that spring from the hope stored up for you in heaven and about which you have already heard in the true message of the gospel that has come to you. In the same way, the gospel is bearing fruit and growing throughout the whole world—just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and truly understood God’s grace.” Colossians 1:3-6

“For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.” Colossians 2:9-10
