the God who sees
a reflection on the God who sees
“But you, God, see the trouble of the afflicted; you consider their grief and take it in hand. The victims commit themselves to you; you are the helper of the Fatherless.” Psalm 10:14
grips with grace hold the grief of the afflicted. a grace who came to be with me when all my heart feels is grief. a hand who came to hold mine when I’m too weak to even lift it up. you are the one who considers me in all my grief and in all the things that have taken its toll on me.
you are the hand I reach for as I let go of the past. you are the one I’m leaning towards when the mourning seems like it will always last.
you’re the 1st and the last, you're in every beginning and every end that makes up this life, for that is who you are, my God.
the sand will shift and the tides will change.
the moon will appear as a tiny light in the sky that will disappear from my eyes as the sun begins to arise. the wind will flow one way for a while and take a turn one way or another.
see, in this life, things will be tossed and things will be gained.
rain will fall and beams of light will shine again.
the seasons of our lives are sure to change. the relationships in our lives may get hard to maintain.
but I know my God will always remain.
and I can't help but remain in steadfast love.
losin’ has no match for my God who gave it all.
i’ll keep comin’ back to the secret place.
the place where my worries fall into the hands of Jesus who knows them all.
He knows my pain. He gets it. He's big enough to hold it all and small enough to hold my hand through it.
A man close with grief and hand in hand with man.
what a juxtaposition. Jesus came just to position himself in the limits of human existence so we may know the limits to His love are nonexistent.
limitless in love, he’ll do anything for us.
he’ll meet us in the lack of our love.
he’ll meet us in the place where we feel humiliated or judged.
he’ll meet us in the place of our greatest triumphs.
I mean, just look at love, nailed to the crux of the cross, all for the sake of us… how marvelous it is, to imagine the eyes of a man who appeared to over 500 after he rose from the depths of death itself.
rose with God himself and now He’s rising within us.
risen first. the first fruits of many seeds that would die to see the fruit of sacrifice that leads to plenty. 1 cor. 15:20
our grief, though it strikes us hard with gripping difficulty, may we know it is all in your sight.
you’re not far. you’re so close. close & committed to us in your steadfast love. may it be so with us.
we are not victims any longer. We are not Fatherless anymore, no we are held by the hands of a Father who gave us more than we could’ve ever asked for.
the grip of grief will not be the narrative that clings too long. for me, no, the grips of mercy will be the story that I see.
