you know what to say
you know what to say
when my mind falls blank
when my words are scarce
and my heart is numb
when i'm drained and distracted
i can come to the voice over all
i can come to the voice who breathed and mere oceans appeared
i can come to the one who holds it all
help my ears be attuned to what You have to say
because at the end of the day Your voice matters the most
it matters more to me than all the draining distractions
or the pain i face
you know what to say
when i can't control my laughter and the joy of tomorrow leaves me awake
when the pain of my past leaves me silent in shame
you know what to say when my friend is sad and just needs help
you know what to say when my friend is processing out loud
you know what to say, oh God when my life is falling apart
you know what to say, oh God whisper to the depths of my heart
you know what to say and when not to say it so help me, O Lord, guard my mouth.
help me understand when to listen and when to speak
may my speech be filled with life and good things
honesty and transparency
realness and authenticity
kindness and love
gentleness and attentiveness
that could only come from my God above
who is so much higher, whose thoughts are higher than the earth
what you're sowing, you're saying.
"So is my word that comes from my mouth: it will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it." Isaiah 55:11
if I'm speaking from a place of communion with You, I can trust my words won't be empty, they will be seeds that bear everlasting fruit.
you know what to say, a phrase I use often with my friends once we hang
and now I declare this: my words are nothing if the One who created them didn't save me from the brink with His words first.
allow my lips to pour forth speech that could only come from Heaven's peaks.
you know what to say, oh God, my mouth leads to ruins.
you know what to say, oh God, my mind is shattered without the Master Artist's word
bind my mind to your word and I'll watch as your speech creates mountains and skies and oceans of beauty for me and all the world to see.
I'll watch as these ruins become the recipe for decay that is destined to see resurrection take place.
you know what to say, oh God, therefore in your word is where I'll be.
you know what to say, oh God, therefore my mind will think before I speak.
